Summary of clip: In this clip, Commander Bowman states that humankind has been plluting the planet faster than they can clean it up. By 2025, the necessity to find a new home was evident. Desperate to solve this problem, the world then looked to Mars. Scientists began sending algae to Mars in unmanned ships hoping the algae would eventually grow and produce an atmosphere suitable for life.

This scene depicts what could possibly happen down the line if we do nothing to solve our environmental issues.
