Summary of clip: In this scene, a cat is playing with a strand of Christmas lights, and manages to pull the plug out of the wall. Clark sees the lights go out, so he plugs them back in which electrocutes the cat under the chair. We hear a shorting out sound and the cat shriek, while we see flashes of light, sparks, and smoke coming from under the chair. The feline mischief leads to knocking out all the lights in the house so Russ has to go flip the breaker.
Connection of flickclip to the concept:This flickclip can be used to discuss the electrical circuits, short circuits, electrical wiring or hazards in the home.
Suggestions to teachers:

1. During the flickclip, students could make a list of observations. What lead up to the accident: the cat pulling the Christmas lights out of the wall and Clark pluggin them back in. What is the sequenced of sounds and sights when Clark plugs the lights back into the wall: Lights come back on, hear shorting out sound, Christmas lights blinking on/off, Christmas lights go off as well as the rest of the house lights, see flashes, sparks coming from chair coinciding with cat shrieking and then see smoke bellowing out from under the chair.

2. This clip could lead to discussions on how electricity works and you could run an experiment on series and parallel circuits built from batteries, wires and bulbs.
