Summary of clip: Harry, a robber, is pranked by a young boy, Kevin, who has been left at home alone. Kevin has heated the doorknob so that it will burn Harry’s hand when he grabs it. Harry then finds instant comfort by shoving his hand into a pile of snow.

Connection of flickclip to the concept: Adding ice to a skin burn will injure your skin even further. The sensitive inner layers of skin that are now exposed will suffer tissue damage when the ice is added.
Suggestions to teachers:

Questions to ask after viewing:
Why does ice have that effect on burning skin?
What is a better way to ease the burning sensation?
What is the difference between a 1st degree, 2nd degree, and 3rd degree burn?
This video could be used to create a need-to-know at the beginning of a physiology topic on how the body heals. This could also be used as a video for lab safety.
