Summary of clip: While searching for Nemo, Dori and Marlin are instructed to hitch a ride on the East Australian Current (EAC) to speed up their trip to Sydney. The two take a wild ride with the sea turtles...

Connection of flickclip to the concept: Many sea creatures ride ocean currents as they make for efficient movement and are warm streams of water. This clip shows this concept in a fun and silly way. (See Cover).
Suggestions to teachers:

1. Suggested questions for students when viewing the clip:

a. Why are the sea creatures using the EAC?

b. What causes this current?

c. What benefits do these currents offer to the inhabitants of the ocean?

d. What other affects does the current have? (Think outside of the ocean!)

2. Have the students research current ocean current data at NOAA: http://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/ and locate other currents. Especiaaly those that are near their locatons such as North America.

3. Have students construct a map of ocean currents.
